Distilled – 24th August 2011
Bottled – September 2019
Colour – Burnt Orange
Body – Rich and succulent, the cask and the spirit have worked in
harmony to create a truly unique dram.
Nose – Flavours of mellow oak, marzipan, melon balls, cranberry &
pomegranate all held together in a beautiful Hebridean overture of
vanilla & wild honey and encapsulated in a soft marine aroma with
floral hints of heather in bloom. Coastal wild flower notes drift by on
a marine Hebridean breeze. It’s Islay in its purest form, no smoke &
iodine to fog the palate, it’s so simple, it’s so pure. Hints of
succulent ripe grapes lead to be followed by the crispy sweet malt
extract and all the while a marine overture brings balance and a
taste of why a pure Islay without the overcoat of peat smoke can
match any spirit in the world. Great example of people, place and
pride in total harmony.
Palate – Sweet oak reveals itself initially only to be overlapped with
notes of citrus and hints of wild flowers, gently complimented by
fresh berries. At 50.4% this dram tantalises every part of the pallet
all the way to the end.
